Los Angeles County holds more than 1.3 million small businesses spread over 88 cities4. Nobody is local to all of that. Your customers are the people within a drive they will actually make for you, and on Instagram they show up under the name of the city they live in, not under #losangeles, which carries 93 million posts2.

Growth by city, not by county

Each city in the county is a market of its own, and its tag shows how busy it is: #pasadena has 3.6M posts, #glendale 2.3M, #burbank 1.7M and #culvercity 985K3. Neighbourhood tags sit inside those cities, such as #silverlake at 1.4M, #echopark at 937K and #eaglerock at 454K3.

That shape decides where growth starts. A business in Burbank gains little from people in Long Beach who will never make the drive, however many of them there are. The useful audience is the people around your own city and the one or two next to it.

What we do for a Los Angeles business

Your manager engages the most active people on the targets you choose: a follow, a like, and the attention that makes them look back at your profile12. Some of them follow you. The targets are what keep it local: competitor accounts near you, the city's pages, its hashtags and the words people search to find a business like yours13.

For example, picture a dental practice in Pasadena. Its list would name other Pasadena and Glendale practices and their followers, Pasadena community pages, and #pasadena itself at 3.6M posts beside a smaller neighbourhood tag3. That keeps the people it reaches close to the chair.

What we need to begin is your login and 10 to 30 competitor accounts in your niche, each with 10K to 90K followers14. In Los Angeles, choose them from your own city first and the neighbouring city second. The how it works page walks through the rest.

Trades that do well here

Food. #laeats has 1.6M posts, but the district tags are where a single restaurant stands out: #dtlafood has 51K5.

Hair and beauty. #lahairstylist passes two million posts while #lasalon has 99K, the only niche tag in its group6. A salon wants clients nearby, and the smaller tag is where they look.

Real estate. #losangelesrealestate has 896K posts and #larealtor 339K7. Our real estate case study follows an agency that began with seven followers and gained 737 from 2 July; we also made its posts, so that figure is growth and content together11.

Trades and home services. Derek's HVAC, plumbing and electrical company makes its own reels and uses us for growth only. It gained 902 followers from 5 July10.

Fitness. Skip #lafitness, which shares its name with a national gym chain and has 1.9M posts; #lagym at 23K and #lapersonaltrainer at 16K are small and local8.

Shops. The shop-local tags are tiny: #shoplocalla has 18K posts and #supportlocalla 6.3K9.

These case studies are real accounts shown on their own dashboards. They are not all in Los Angeles; they show the same method at work in different trades.

Before you sign up

Results depend on your niche, your content and how often you post, and a fresh target list helps16. The plans page lists the follower ranges past clients saw each month, and plans begin at US$147 a month. You can watch real accounts on their dashboards in the case studies.

Want the local tags first? Our Los Angeles hashtag list has 2,384 of them, measured and grouped by city and trade1.

Questions

Yes. The work is not tied to a map: it follows the cities, neighbourhoods and local accounts you name at setup, from Long Beach to the Valley13.

Yes. Name the Westside accounts, pages and tags your customers follow, such as Santa Monica, Venice and Culver City, and the targeting stays there13.

No. We never post, comment or message as you. Keep posting yourself: how often you post is one of the things that decides how fast an account grows16.

The work stops the same day and you are told. We wait 48 to 72 hours, then resume at a lower pace, and the paused days are added to your month at no charge15.
